RESIDENTIAL VISITS 2021-2022

Please read this letter carefully, we have re-written it to include a lot more information and have tried to answer any possible questions below:

Throughout the pandemic we have not been able to access any off-site visits or welcome any visitors to the school.  As we start to emerge from the many restrictions imposed by Covid-19 we are beginning to look forward to the next academic year 2021-2022 with the intention of reinstating trips and visits for the children.

With the uncertainty of the pandemic however, it is difficult to set out a definitive roadmap.  Nonetheless, it is important for us to try and look forward, book what we can and hope for the best.  Please do note that any provisional trip mentioned below is subject to following any government guidance, changes in the pandemic and the school’s own risk assessment.

We appreciate that residential visits can be expensive, especially if you have more than one child in the school.  Therefore, as we start to move forward, we have made the decision to make a number of changes to our residentials.  Some have been moved to different year groups, some are different durations and some have been removed altogether.  We have done this to enable parents to have “gap years” without having the financial pressures of children wanting to go on a trip every year.  It also gives children that little extra bit of school time to assist with our catch-up provision.  Looking forward to the academic year of 2022-2023, we will only be offering residential trips for Years 2, 4 and 6.

However, for the next academic year 2021-2022 we have provisionally booked the following residential visits:

Residential Visits Roadmap 2021-2022 *Provisional*

  • Early Years – No residential visits.  Day visits & visitors to the school instead.
  • Year 1 – No residential visits.  Day visits & visitors to the school.
  • Year 2 Stibbington Eco Centre February 2022 (3 days and 2 nights)

As the children are still young, this is a perfect first step into experiencing residential visits as it’s only down the road.  This is the only residential visit in Key Stage 1.

Click HERE to find out more information.

  • Year 3 – No residential visits.  Day visits & visitors to the school instead.

Aligning ourselves with our plans for 2023, we are having a gap year as children are moving into Key Stage 2 and will need a bit more time in the classroom in a year group that is already having a big transition between Key Stages.

  • Year 4 Aylmerton Field Study Centre - End of April 2022 - (3 days and 2 nights)

This visit is about an hour away from school and the children will focus on habitats, coastal erosion, team building and seal spotting.

Click HERE to find out more information.

  • Year 5 The Horstead Centre - End of March 2022 - (2 days and 1 night)

This visit is about 2 hours away and focuses on teamwork through various outdoor pursuits including archery, canoeing, tunnelling and rock climbing to name but a few.

Click HERE to find out more information.

  • Year 6   London End of June / Early July 2022 - (3 days and 2 nights)
An action packed trip visiting museums, going on boat and bus tours and taking a ‘flight’ on the London Eye.

Click HERE to find out more information.

The year groups that are having residential visits will also have day visits and visitors to the school during their year.  These are to be confirmed at a later date.

Payments, Transfers and Refunds

We understand that parents have already paid money or deposits towards residential trips as part of a previous roadmap which unfortunately was unable to go ahead.  We also understand that some parents may want to transfer their money to a new trip and some will want to be completely refunded.  Please see below for all details regarding finance.

If you have paid towards:

  • London 2020 (Current Year 6 children) – If you paid money for this trip you will be automatically refunded between 4th and 7th May 2021 as there is no opportunity for these children to go on a residential trip this academic year.  Any refund requested will take into account other monies owed to the school for previous trips, visits, uniforms, dinner monies, Explorers or any other outstanding balances.
  • Horstead 2020 (Current Year 5 children) – London is now the planned visit for Year 6 next year.  Everyone who has paid towards the 2020 Horstead trip will have their money carried forward to the London trip.  This will happen automatically once you have filled in the booking form HERE.
Should you not want to provisionally book this trip and wish to be refunded, please contact the email address below where you will be refunded between between 7th and 11th June 2021.  Any refund requested will take into account other monies owed to the
school for previous trips, visits, uniforms, dinner monies, Explorers or any other outstanding balances.

Should you not want to provisionally book this trip and wish to be refunded, please contact the email address below where you will be refunded between 14th and 18th June 2021.  Any refund requested will take into account other monies owed to the school for previous trips, visits, uniforms, dinner monies, Explorers or any other outstanding balances.

We always endeavour to include all children who apply.  Due to the limited number of places that venues allocate to the school however, this is sometimes not the case.  Therefore, we will allocate places on a first come first served basis and, if necessary, we will also have a waiting list for any excess numbers.

Confirmation

We will be setting up Dojo groups for each trip.  If your child is successful in gaining a place your child will be added to the group.  Your ParentPay account will also be updated to show the trip that your child is confirmed on.

Your child will only be confirmed if they are added to the group and Parent Pay and all confirmations of places will be confirmed soon after sign-ups close, which are:

London 2022 – 4th May 2021

Stibbington 2022 – 28th May 2021

Horsetad 2022 – 28th May 2021

Aylmerton 2022 – 28th May 2021

Pupil Premium

If you are entitled to Pupil Premium, the cost of the trip will be reduced by 10% which the school funds.  This will be reflected on ParentPay when you come to pay.
