Mathematics Policies

At Southfields, we work hard to ensure that all children are provided with a Mastery Curriculum in Mathematics.  Since the introduction of the Mastery approach, we have adapted our Teaching and Learning to follow these developments and our Policies coincide with this.

Please see below for our range of Policies developed and shared by all stakeholders in our school community.

The Mathematics Policy sets out the guidelines that teachers follow in the teaching of Mathematics across the school.  It explains more in depth about our approach and the scheme of work that we use to support our teaching and learning.

The Calculations Policy sets out the guidelines that teachers follow in teaching the four calculations to children.  As the children progress through the school, they will learn new ways of solving problems using a variety of different methods.  This is to give all children the opportunity to find a process that works best for them.

The Homework Policy sets out the expectations for Mathematics homework across the school including the timings children should spend practising their skills and what elements they should focus on.

The Mathematics Policy is available here.
