Why become a governor?
Our governing board plays a vital role in shaping the future of Southfields Primary School. We provide strategic leadership and work together to ensure the best possible outcomes for every child. It's a rewarding way to contribute to your child's school and develop new skills along the way!
What does a governor do?
As a governor, you will:
- Work alongside other governors to help our school thrive
- Bring a valuable parental perspective to board discussions
- Be committed to improving outcomes for all our children
- Develop your interpersonal skills and learn something new
What we are looking for:
- A strong commitment to the role and to improving outcomes for children
- Good interpersonal skills, curiosity, and a willingness to learn and develop new skills
What's involved?
We make it as manageable as possible:
- 6 evening meetings per year at 5:00pm
- One full 'Governor in School Day' per year
- Three monitoring visits (September, February, May)
- At least one school assembly during the year
- At least one educational visit during the year
- Training opportunities to support you in the role
- 4-year term of office
