Famous Visitors - Inspire Sports in School

We have been very lucky in the past to have famous visitors to our school:

Lauren Steadman

We have recently been lucky enough to have a whole school Zoom assembly with the gold medal winning paralympian Lauren Steadman.

It was so inspiring to hear her talk about her journey to becoming an Olympian, she truly is an amazing athlete. You may also recognise her from programmes such as Strictly Come Dancing on BBC 1 and Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins on Channel 4. She gave us all great advice on trying hard, over coming adversity and the importance of a positive mindset. We even got a glimpse of her famous gold medal, which was incredible! It is such a shame we couldn't have her in school but the way she spoke left us all inspired to go out and try our best to achieve our dreams.

Craig Pawson

Previosuly having had a visit from a famous premier league referee, Craig Pawson.  All children in Key Stage Two were invited to an assembly to meet Craig and be able to ask him questions about what life is like being a referee for teams such as Manchester United. A small number of children were then invited to take part in a football training session and have their photographs taken with Craig.

Matt Skelhon

We were lucky enough to welcome Paralympic Athlete Matt Skelhon to our school. We were all excited by his arrival and were interested to hear of his achievements and we embraced the opportunity to see his rifles and medals up close! He was kind enough to give a KS1 and KS2 assembly to allow all children to hear of what it takes to be successful in sport. Some children were lucky enough to take part in a Q and A session with Matt and have their photo taken with him and his rifles.

Peterborough Regional Collage

Inspiring children into sport does not always take celebrities. Year 4 were treated to a visit from students from Peterborough Regional College and they participated in a variety of dance workshops that culminated in a performance on stage  from the students themselves and a chance for the whole year group to join in with a group dance at the end. The children thoroughly enjoyed their sessions and impressed us staff with their dance moves! Well done to all involved and a big thank you to the College for sending their talented students and staff, hopefully this is something that will become a regular visit. Check out the photos below!
