Home learning is really important to ensure that children are practicing their skills at home as well as in school. In Year 3 we like the children to read everyday to an adult at home. Please can you make sure you sign and comment in your child's diary to show this. This is really important to develop children's skills as well as create strong attitudes towards books.
In addition to reading children will also have spellings and times tables to learn daily which will be tested on a Friday.
Topic homework (in the blue books) will come home on a Tuesday and should be returned by the following Monday.
Children are also expected to complete their daily diary entry (if not completed in school) about something they have learnt that day in school. As parents please feel free to write encouraging messages to your children to see your thoughts about how hard they have been working in school.
Finally there will be an additional Maths homework set weekly which may vary from number bonds, times tables or even a number booklet.
We also have sent home log in details for our online resources such as Mathletics, Active Learn (Bug Club, Abacus, Spelling Bug, Phonics Bug, Science Bug) and RM EasiMaths. Please take advantage of these incredible resources, they are very expensive but we believe them to be very effective in supporting and challenging our children's learning.
