Southfields Primary School

Miss Tawn

We hope you have all have a wonderful Easter break and come back ready for our Summer Term.

We have lots of exciting things planned for the Summer Term. The theme for the Summer Term will be ‘Look Inside the Garden.’ We will explore the environment around us and work in our school grounds, we will be visiting Sandringham, exploring texts linked to gardens as well as learning all about plants and what they need to grow.

As well as our exciting curriculum, we also have May Day Festival to look forward to as well as our annual Sports Days and Arts Week which are events loved by all.

We will be preparing ourselves for our end of Key Stage One SATs and working hard hard to show what we have learnt so far. We would like to invite you to a meeting on Tuesday 30th April at 3:20pm in the Key Stage One Hall, to give you more information about the SATs and how they will work at Southfields.

Thank you for your continued support so far this year; we are very grateful for the support that you give your child at home, as this has a positive impact upon their attitude and learning in the classroom. Please continue to support your child with their home learning tasks to the best of their ability.

Ensure that your child brings their PE kit to school every Monday and we will ensure that the children take their PE kits home on a Friday.

Homework this term will be as follows:

Reading- daily with an adult and a signature and comment to show they have read with someone.

Times tables – daily

Spellings – daily

Diary – daily (we will begin the year completing these in school at the end of each day).

Maths homework – once a week linked to the learning they will have done in lessons.

Topic homework – once every two weeks. This homework can be creative, research based it can including drawings and writing. This is the children’s opportunity to demonstrate their best work.

Topic homework for this half term can be found in the attachments below.

This year our classes PE day is a Wednesday. We would advise that PE kits come into school on a Monday and then children will take them home on a Friday. Some weeks there may be the possibility for extra PE or fitness activities.
