Happy New Year! I hope you all had a lovely winter break and new year.
This year we have already covered Earth and Space, which was an 'out of this world' topic including a trip and visitor. This term we move on to the next of our topics which the children will be immersed in. Again, this encompass an array of subjects, knowledge and experiences, and link to all curriculum areas.
We will be exploring 'Britain through the ages!' starting with a look across the North sea which might you give you a scare! Viking long boats are making their way to shore. This topic will look at leaders through the monarchy during Anglo-Saxon, Viking and Tudor periods. Pupils will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in all aspects of British history during this period including a visit to the Jorvik Centre.
We are also joined for the first half of this term by Miss Wright, who is a traniee teacher. She has many years experience as a Teaching Assistant and is now furthering her career in education!
In Year 5,children will continue to receive daily spellings, times tables and reading as they did in middle school. They will also need to complete their daily diary entries and blue book learning log homework, which (as requested) is now three weekly. Spellings and timetables will be sent home every Friday.
We appreciate your continued support and are here to answer any questions. If you wish to speak with any of the Year 5 team please do not hesitate to contact us on Class Dojo or appointments made via the office.
