Southfields Primary School

Computing is a big focus this year at Southfields, as we explore the New Curriculum 2014. Children must now be taught a whole range of skills from programming to debugging. Please have a look over the information on this page which will help you to understand the content of the New Curriculum 2014 for Computing.

At Southfields we will be continuing to use the amazing ICT provision we have, such as the ICT Suite, green screen and multimedia suite, iPads, Interactive Whiteboards and BeeBots, as well as to enhance our teaching further by following The Rising Stars 'switched on' Scheme of Work, from Reception up to Year 6. Feel free to have a look at the overview examples for Year 5, the unit Schemes of Work and how these units cover the Computing Programs of Study. You can also see the progression of Computing Skills throughout the year groups by looking at the Overview of Skills.

The teaching of E-Safety is extremely important to us at Southfields as we help our pupils to become safe and responsible Digital Citizens in this new and quickly-evolving digital world. Feel free to have a look at the attachment below which gives you an insight into the ways in which we teach E-Safety to our pupils.

We are very proud to have some extremely talented pupils at Southfields - we have our very own Digital Leaders. These children have been recruited from across the school and help to peer teach in everything from E-Safety (as part of our E-Cadets scheme) to pragramming.

Remember to follow us on Twitter so that you can stay up to date with all of the work we are doing. Just request to follow us at @SouthfieldsInfo.
