🌟 Year 1/2 – Important Information for Parents

👕 PE & Uniform

  • Children should wear their PE kit for their allocated PE day.
  • School uniform should be worn on the remaining four days.

A positive attitude towards school at home can make a real difference to how children feel about coming into school.

⏰ Punctuality

Being on time each morning is really important. Morning work provides an additional learning opportunity and helps children settle into the day positively.

If you are finding it difficult to arrive on time, please speak to a member of the Inclusion Team. We are always happy to work with families to offer support.

🌱 Behaviour for Learning

We want all children to develop positive attitudes towards their learning, adults and peers.

Parents can support this by talking to their children about:

Being kind, respectful and ready to learn. Listening carefully and following instructions. Trying their best and persevering when learning is challenging. Taking pride in their work. Being positive about school and learning.

🎒 Independence & Belongings

We encourage children to become increasingly independent and responsible.

Please support your child by helping them to:

Know what they have brought to school each day. Organise and look after their own belongings. Take responsibility for packing up at the end of the day. Ensure that all belongings are clearly named, including clothing, water bottles and PE kits.

🏠 Home Learning

Home learning will be sent out weekly and will include:

  • 📖 Reading practice
  • ✏️ Spelling practice
  • 🔢 A maths practice activity

Children will have a weekly spelling test. Spelling test days vary between classes, so please check your child’s ClassDojo page for their allocated day. Please encourage your child to practise their spellings little and often throughout the week.
